A significantly modified Republic RC-3 Seabee. Larger splash “guard/rail” at the bottom hull, droopy wingtips, more powerful engine in a different cowling... Man, I’d love to have one of these classic birds. I’d probably do some of the mods but leave the hull nearly all bare metal.
Also, finally getting to fly again after 5 months being grounded due to covid everywhere. Turns out I still know how to do it. Plane (CRJ900) still intact, no craters in the runway from my landings, happy passengers. Happy pilot. The new Flight Simulator is great, but it still can’t beat the real thing.

Some form of amphib would definitely be parked in my lotto super-millionaire hangar. I tend to dream of twin radial powered Grummans though.

Gorgeous.

Though awesome, they’d need too much room for my taste. This kind of smaller one is within the realm of possibility , financially speaking. Can be found for roughly the price of a base model Porsche 718 Cayman... It’ll be all the maintenance and hangar/parking/storage costs that would kill my wallet though.

Friend of mine had a Luscombe on floats. N ice small package but I don’t think I’d want a float plane without variable pitch.

If I was ever to get a float plane, it would have to be one of these.
Sounds like they can still reuse the CRJ, so success!

They fly like trucks, but damn they're pretty.

That’s why it’s in the lotto hanger. Even if I suddenly found myself with the money to actually afford a small plane reality would mean skipping anything with a radial; let alone two of them. The number of places with experience maintaining them will only get smaller leading to ever increasing operating costs.

That’s why it would stay in the lotto hanger. That way it can be parked beside either a Piper Malibu Meridian or Pilatus PC-12 for my non-island hooping adventures.

Oh, yes. It’s not the purchase price that’s the spendy part...it’s after you bring it home. Paint, interior, avionics, annual, $30K engine rebuild.
Other day I saw trailering a PA-28 somewhere. I figured they’re going to spend more than the plane is worth to get it going again.

Also a beauty, but I just like the size and style of the Seabee better. Just has that vintage style by the bucket load. And i t’s like an Icon A5 but literally 6 0+ years earlier. What’s not to like :D.

There is something special about a flying boat, as opposed to an airplane on floats.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trident_TR-1_Trigull looks like the engine intake from a trigull.
That minimum extra 70hp would help. IIRC they initially wanted to fit a larger engine but then the cost at the time would have gone up quite a bit. S o they had to make do, which was a complaint by a number of bush pilots that it didn’t have enough power to climb out of a lake.

This one has a Daubenspeck conversion, which upped the power by 55-80hp depending on the engine installed into the new cowling.
I read the same about it being a bit underpowered, and because it is pretty roomy inside it was quite easy to overload it.
